A high yielding semi grape tomato that has an attractive blush pink colour.
Flavours/Food Partners
Thai Pink Egg is a very popular tomato in its home country of Thailand where it partners well with many Asian herbs like coriander, Thai basil, ginger, lemon grass and garlic. It is a sweet tomato that is quite pleasant when eaten whole on its own.
Health/Cooking/Medicinal
Like all tomatoes, Thai Pink Egg ise high in the cancer fighting agent, Lycopene. This is enhanced by moderate cooking. Serve whole in salads or lightly fry with fresh bok choi, garlic, Thai basil and lemon grass. Quarter and mix with other cherry tomatoes, sliced red bunching onion and fresh Vietnamese coriander for a colourful salad. They are high in Vitamins A, B1, B2 and C.
Landscaping/Planting
Plant in an airy, sunny position in well drained soil or very large pots. Does not require a stake. Is resistant to many diseases and cracking.
Cultivation/Fertiliser
Like all tomatoes it must receive a deep soaking when almost dry and should not receive overhead watering. Feed regularly with Seasol and Powerfeed. A small amount of dolomite lime after planting will make stronger plants. Harvest when fruit is a deep pinkcolor.
