Traditional white skinned, purple fleshed variety of Sweet Potato with edible shoots.
Sweet Potatoes partner with all other root vegetables either baked, steamed or fried. Flavour is enhanced with addition of cinnamon, sweet chilli and basil.
Sweet Potatoes are a healthy alternative to regular potatoes and are high in Vitamin A, beta carotene and fibre whilst still giving good energy levels. They can be eaten in a multitude of ways but best is steamed, baked or lightly fried as chips. Bake whole without peeling and serve with a smothering of cinnamon butter or thinly fried with sweet chilli sauce.
Airy, open position with plenty of sun, avoid moderate or heavier frosts. Likes spring watering in a location with very good drainage.
Requires regular applications of Seasol and Powerfeed. Deep soaking in spring when plants are young then keep dry. Harvest at 3-6 months.
