Description
(Ipomea aquatica)
This is a classic leafy Asian green that has an aquatic or semi-aquatic habit. It is a fast-growing vegetable and is perennial in tropical regions and treated as an annual in cooler climates.
Flavours/Food Partners
This versatile green partners well with all Asian flavours like laksa leaf, coriander, ginger, garlic and chilli. Use with other Asian greens.
Health/Cooking/Medicinal
Generally used in stir fries but can be steamed and eaten as any other leafy green. Healthy vegetable that is easy to cook and prepare but must be eaten fresh. All parts of the plant are edible.
Landscaping/Planting
Plant in a sunny position with ample water.
Cultivation/Fertiliser
Harvest young leaves regularly and use straight away. The more you harvest the better it produces. Fertilise with Seasol and Powerfeed regularly.
