(Pelargonium tomentosum ‘Chocolate Mint’)
A peppermint scented pelargonium with a hint of chocolate and green leaves and masses of dainty white flowers in spring. Large, open habit.
Flavours/Food Partners
Partners with mints, other scented geranium, the fruity sages and any of the Renaissance Tea Herbs. Use in teas, cakes, desserts, ice cream, biscuits and jams.
Health/Cooking/Medicinal
The leaves can be added to salads and desserts or used in the baking of cakes and biscuits. Gives a peppermint flavour with overtones of chocolate to jellies, jams and cookies. A hot cup of herbal tea with a few leaves of Stevia and some fresh Geranium Chocolate Peppermint leaves makes a refreshing morning tea.
Landscaping/Planting
Plant in almost any well drained spot in the garden. It does well in poor dry soils and exposed positions. Plant near paths for pleasant fragrance.
Cultivation/Fertiliser
Requires regular applications of Seasol and PowerFeed. Water during summer months if dry.
