A compact perennial with attractive, lance shaped lime green leaves laced with dark red veins.
Flavours/Food Partners
Partners with thyme, dill, parsley and most vegetables, eggs and oily fish like salmon and tuna. Can also be served with bunching onions, celery leaf, baby spinach and leafy green salad herbs.
Health/Cooking/Medicinal
Only use the fresh young leaves that have a lemony taste for salads and cook the older leaves. Pick young leaves and add to any general or leafy green salad or use it in sauces for a variety of meat and vegetable dishes. It is high in Vitamin C and in iron.
Landscaping/Planting
Prefers moist but well drained soil in a full sun position but will grow in most parts of the garden.
Cultivation/Fertiliser
Fertilise with Seasol and Power Feed in spring, summer and autumn.
