Great, classic Heirloom pumpkin with origins going back over 150 years. An ugly plant with good flavour.
Flavours/Food Partners
Pumpkins have a sweet flavour that partners well with softer herbs like parsley, lemon thyme, chervil and celery leaf. Blue Hubbard is really nice when slow roasted with potatoes, beetroot and carrots. Must be served with burnt edges for full flavour!
Health/Cooking/Medicinal
Nutty and sweet pumpkin with orange/yellow flesh. Gan be cooked in numerous ways; baked, steamed, mashed, stuffed or fried on BBQ. Will hold for two or so months post harvest if stored in dry airy position. Harvest when full in colour at about 1.5kg – or when first frosts occur.
Landscaping/Planting
Plant in moist well drained soil in full sun position. Vigorous vine growing to 3+m.
Cultivation/Fertiliser
Deep water as needed. Applt Seasol and Powerfeed regularly. No other care needed.
