An attractive perennial with white flowers and rhizomes that are used for the exotic Orris Root powder.
Orris Root, once dried makes an extremely fragrant powder that is widely used in perfumery.
It is not a culinary herb but there is some anecdotal evidence of Orris Root being used as an aid to cure colds, etc.
The large flowering shrub is a good border plant and likes part to full sun in a good organic soil.
Harvest regularly to prevent the tubers becoming too large and fibrous. Give regular applications of Seasol and PowerFeed to keep the plant healthy and producing well.
