(Aethionema cordifolium)
A low growing perennial with attractive fern like foliage, white floweras and a tangy flavour.
Flavours/Food Partners
Rocket, lettuce, endive, chicory, mizuna, mustard greens, salad burnet, sorrel and fresh herbs like parsley, coriander, celery leaf and basil. Use in salads with lightly cooked vegetables like mushrooms, asparagus, snow peas or meats like ham and bacon, add to sandwiches to liven up the flavour.
Health/Cooking/Medicinal
Lebanese Cress leaves should be harvested just prior to use and can be taken all year round. High in Vitamins and minerals. Coarse chop and mix with desired food partners then add any dressing just prior to serving.
Landscaping/Planting
Plants grow best in moist in semi shade to full sun but will grow or in pots with well drained mix that is kept moist. Will root from the stems producing a good weed suppressing mat.
Cultivation/Fertiliser
Regular applications of Seasol and PowerFeed will keep the plants healthy and growing well. Prune off flowers as they appear and cut back in autumn and spring if getting too large.
