Flavours/Food Partners
Jambu is used in stews and salads in northern Brazil. Only small amounts need to be used in salads as the flavour is strong but when cooked it is a lot milder. Its prime use outside of Brazil is as a short term relief from toothache. Also being used in small amounts in cocktails.
Health/Cooking/Medicinal
For quick relief from toothache rub a leaf on the gum area near the troublesome tooth, the area will tingle and then go numb within a few seconds. This is only short term relief, it does NOT remove the need to be seen by a qualified medical practitioner. Use in small amounts in a green salad or with chilli and garlic in a spicy stew.
