A quick growing short lived perennial with attractive, dark green leaves.
Flavours/Food Partners
Spring and Welsh onions, parsley, garlic, rocket, thyme and other salad herbs. Partners with most salad vegetables, eggs and oil fish like salmon and trout.
Health/Cooking/Medicinal
Use fresh – in place of lettuce, or cooked – in place of spinach. Pick leaves and add to any general or leafy green salad or use it in soups with a variety of meat and vegetables. It is high in Vitamin C and is an old herb that has been used for centuries in Europe.
Landscaping/Planting
Prefers moist but well drained soil in a full sun position.
Cultivation/Fertiliser
Fertilise with Seasol and Powerfeed in spring, summer and autumn.
