Description

(Various species)

Many succulents have vivid, brightly coloured flowers but they are grown mainly for their interesting shapes and coloured leaves.

POSITION & USES

Full sun is essential. Succulents tolerate dry, harsh conditions but will nevertheless perform well in normal garden conditions as long as drainage is good. A dedicated succulent bed with other dry tolerant plants such as Limonium, Tulbaghia, Sedum and Euphorbia can look wonderful. Succulents are very attractive in pots and require little water or care. Many can also be grown indoors.

CULTIVATION

Very little attention is necessary. Snail baits may be useful to protect some varieties.

FERTILISING

Regular applications of Seasol and Power Feed will keep it looking its best.
