SPECIAL QUALITIES
A medium sized, medicinal sage from southern Europe and northern Africa.
FLOWERS
Branched spikes of white to lilac flowers that sit above the foliage over summer and autumn.
POSITION & USES
Plant in full sun in well drained soil. Clary Sage will grow in poor soil and can be used as a border or filler plant in a classic perennial or cottage garden. Foliage and flowers are edible and good for herbal teas and as a herb where normal sage would be used.
CULTIVATION
Easily grown in most garden situations. Prune regularly in mid spring to keep compact.
FERTILISING
Regular applications of Seasol and PowerFeed will keep it looking its best.
WATER RATING
- Red can = Little water in hot, dry weather.
- Green can = Deep watering every few weeks in hot, dry weather.
- Blue can = Deep watering weekly in hot, dry weather.
