SPECIAL QUALITIES
Papal Purple is another of the many Penstemon that are quick and easy to grow with prolific flowering. Attractive for most of the year and a food source for native birds.
FLOWERS
The flowers are a true purple, like that of the Catholic bishops and appear from spring through to autumn.
POSITION & USES
Penstemons work well with other perennials and lower growing shrubs, in large pots and the garden. They prefer a sunny position and normal garden soil with good drainage.
CULTIVATION
For best results fertilise at the beginning of spring. During winter prune to a woody frame about 30cm from the ground.
FERTILISING
Regular applications of Seasol and Power Feed will keep it looking its best.
WATER RATING
- Red can = Little water in hot, dry weather.
- Green can = Deep watering every few weeks in hot, dry weather.
- Blue can = Deep watering weekly in hot, dry weather.
