Description
(Nepeta cataria ‘Citriodora’)
A fragrant flowering shrub that gives cats a natural high and a buzz on the taste buds. You and your cat will love it.
Flavours/Food Partners
Plant and grow with other ‘Kool Kat’ herbs like other Cat Mint and Cat Grass.
Health/Cooking/Medicinal
Just like humans, cats have their recreational substances. Sniffing Catnip gives cats a pleasant mind altering experience. They get this by rolling in the plant and sniffing the strong aroma with a citrus overtone. Has been known to ease stomach complaints in humans when made in to a tea.
Landscaping/Planting
Catnip grows well in most garden positions but prefers a moist well drained soil. Plant where the pussy can easily get to roll around the foliage. Works well as a border plant or flowering tub plant.
Cultivation/Fertiliser
Several applications of Seasol and PowerFeed in late spring is all that is need to keep the plants healthy and growing well. Cut back hard after the small white flowers drop off.
