A French bred variety from the 19th century that has stood t!’e test f time. A strong constitution, compact form and free flowering habit make it a winner.
FLOWERS
Bi-coloured flowers of rose-scarlet and violet are freely produced in spring and summer.
POSITION & USES
Tom Thumb is a plant for the shade or semi shade. It is frost hardy in most parts of Australia but doesn’t like the extreme heat. It prefers moist soils and protection from wind. Plant under trees, on the south side of buildings or in containers.
CULTIVATION
Prune to a strong framework in early spring. Mulch and water in summer.
FERTILISING
Regular applications of Seasol and Power Feed will keep it looking its best.
WATER RATING
- Red can = Little water in hot, dry weather.
- Green can = Deep watering every few weeks in hot, dry weather.
- Blue can = Deep watering weekly in hot, dry weather.
