SPECIAL QUALITIES
Echinops is a bold statuesque plant with steel blue, globular flowers on strong stems. Very striking.
FLOWERS
The spherical blue flowers, made up of many tiny florets, appear in late summer.
POSITION & USES
Sun and good drainage are preferred. Will grow in poor soils. Use with other perennials. Suited to cottage or Mediterranean style gardens. Flowers are good for cutting and drying.
CULTIVATION
An easy care plant in all but wet soil. Cut to the ground after flowering to produce fresh leafy growth.
FERTILISING
Regular applications of Seasol and Power Feed will keep it looking its best.
WATER RATING
- Red can = Little water in hot, dry weather.
- Green can = Deep watering every few weeks in hot, dry weather.
- Blue can = Deep watering weekly in hot, dry weather.
