SPECIAL QUALITIES

A compact and mounding shrub with crystal silver foliage and pink thistle like flowers.

FLOWERS

Mauve pink thistle like flowers are produced in late spring/summer.

POSITION & USES

An open and dry, sunny position with well drained soil are preferred. Silver Fountain should be trimmed hard in late autumn to produce dense mound, planted amongst other low shrubs and perennials for a silver highlight or used as a pot specimen.

CULTIVATION

Cut back by 40% in late autumn. In the heat of summer give an occasional deep watering but do not over water in cooler months.

FERTILISING

Regular applications of Seasol and Power Feed will keep it looking its best.

WATER RATING

  • Red can = Little water in hot, dry weather.
  • Green can = Deep watering every few weeks in hot, dry weather.
  • Blue can = Deep watering weekly in hot, dry weather.
