Description
(Penstemon ‘Thorn’)
SPECIAL QUALITIES
Like most penstemons, ‘Thom’ is an excellent garden plant. It is easy to grow, attractive for most of the year and flowers generously. Native birds use it as a food source.
FLOWERS
The pink tipped, white tubular flowers are produced along upright stems from late spring to autumn and into winter in milder climates.
POSITION & USES
Grows best in a sunny position in soil that is not wet. Penstemons will tolerate considerable heat and dryness but will thrive when they receive regular watering. Use with other perennials and shrubs such as Nemesia and Salvia ‘Waverley’.
CULTIVATION
For best results prune the plant to a framework about 25-30cm high when flowering finishes.
FERTILISING
Regular applications of Seasol and Power Feed will keep it looking its best.
